Hey all! So, I have had this shocking and engaging device known as the Pavlok for 6 months now. Here is my take on this electrifying gadget after my long (ish) term use…..

This past December I bought a Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor which I love! And, it keeps me on task when doing cardio– seriously.
But after a few months of just rinsing it after my workouts, the strap that goes around my chest started smelling like a horse barn. Who knew that sweet stench would still be coming out of my pours years after selling my horse!
Then, Samantha, a friend of mine, told me to soak it in vinegar. I followed her advice and soaked it for a good hour, then rinsed. That definitely helped but the next time I put that thing on and sweat it out, the stinky smell radiated from my being… at least the stink was much milder this time around.
Then I decided after every use I would immediately soap it up in the locker room sink with hand soap and towel dry. That kept the stink at bay but still didn’t totally eliminate it.
So last night, I did an evening cardio sesh at home on the bike. I then hopped in the shower with my HR strap on and then got an idea. I spotted this overly perfumey Paris Hilton Body Wash I have had sitting in my shower for years (literally). I don’t like perfumey body washes and use a natural glycerin soap from Puritans Pride. Not sure why I never threw it away but, I sudsed up my HR monitor strap with the Paris Hilton body wash, hung it to dry and then this morning AFTER my workout, that thing smelled fresh as a daisy…. stinky HR monitor smell gone. I will still be washing this thing after every use though—which is a lot right now!
I have heard of some people using baking soda or shampoo. But whatever you do…. keep that thing clean! bleck! (make sure to look at the cleaning instructions in the manual first.)
We are all guilty of poor posture. Posture is as important to your health as working out, eating healthfully and getting a good nights sleep. All fitness programs’ #1 goal is to promote and improve good posture. Posture can determine the outcome of your performance, it affects how you walk, run, jump, lift weights and so on.
Since the majority of us don’t have our mothers following us around telling us to stand up straight, Lumo Body Tech. has created a little device that gently vibrates when you slouch.
The Lumo Lift not only notifies you of your poor posture, but tracks steps, calories burned and distance traveled. You can check your progress by viewing the IOS compatible app. The Lumo Lift costs $99.99.

There is no doubt wearable fitness tech has made a big impact in the fitness world, but the fashion industry won’t be left behind. And, this timely post is conveniently published with Valenine’s Day just around the corner. What fit chick wouldn’t love a totally fashionable fitness tracker? (hint, hint hubby).
Here are 12 of the most fashionable wearable fitness devices out there…..
This gorgeous Deco- style bracelet by Tory Burch conceals the Fitbit Flex
, a popular fitness tracker that monitors distance covered, steps taken, calories burned and your sleep patterns.
This hinged, Deco-style bracelet conceals a Fitbit Flex , which monitors steps taken, distance covered, calories burned—even how much you’ve slept.
The elegant and totally versatile Misfit Shine disk tracks your calories burned from cycling, running, and swimming (it’s waterproof to 50 meters deep!) without needing a charge. It is iOS and android compatible. For a dressier look, it can be snapped into a sytlish leather band $40, or into a gorgeous bloom necklace, $79.99!
Swarofski partnered with Misfit and designed a line of their own gorgeous bracelets to snap this fancy little disk into.
This gorgeous piece of tech sensor gauges your exposure to harmful UV rays and then sends the information to an app on your iPhone. This is great for assessing your sun habits and offers suggestions like what SPF to use, when to put on a hat and sun glasses and when to move to the shade.
The jewels come in 3 different colors: platinum, gold and gunmetal
This sleek looking necklace tracks distance walked or ran, sleep patterns and calories burned when plugged into your iOS or android. It comes in three colors: gold, silver, and black.
Ms Tech also has little LED lights around its circular face that can light up to display the time in an attractive but difficult-to-read sort of way.
As I can’t imagine this being extremely comfortable for many fitness activities other than walking, light jogging or some lifting, its one of the most stylish pieces of fitness trackers I have seen so far.
The device is available on MT’s project page and if you order before February 1, you can get your necklace engraved for free.
This portable personalized fitness manager uses data from the built-in heart rate monitor and pedometer to give you real time info on the progress and results of your workout. This will also personalize and adapt next workout recommendations for you.
Gear Fit gives you instant notifications of
emails, SMS, incoming calls, & 3rd party apps with easy to control basic functions like rejecting calls or quick reply to messages on the touch screen. Compatible with Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
This iOS and android compatible smartwatch
has glanceable notifications for emails, calls and texts, 7 day long battery life, control music that plays on your phone, daylight readable display and 1000’s of apps to choose from like pandora, the weather channel, and runkeeper.
Don’t mess with my watch man! The Montblanc e-strap lets you keep your favorite timeless watch piece while still being able to wear a fitness tracker on your wrist. This strap is part of the Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed collection but can be added to any watch for fitness tracking and notifications on the monochrome OLED screen.
Okay, so this one isn’t so fitness oriented but it was too cool to pass up. It lights up or vibrates when you have calls, texts, e-mails, and social media alerts. Just fabulous. What will they come up with next?
Or, you could just bling your band with Fitband Bling!
These slide right on your JAWBONE UP®, UP24TM; Fitbit® FlexTM and other bands 35-45mm in circumference for a fun, flirty look.
With this hefty price tag, it better look good, track every bit of fitness data possible all while making me breakfast!
This fancy band “boasts black watersnake skin, pearls from China and Madagascan lapis stones, while the other packs in white watersnake skin, tiger’s eye from South Africa, and obsidian from Russia.”
Like the Misfit Shine, the device itself pops out to clip onto jackets, belts and pockets. It is compatible with the iPhone app and delivers motivational messages, known as Boosts, throughout the day.
Kickstarter backers have until January 5th to get in early for a Mira.
Another fitness tracker like the Misfit, the stone can be popped out and placed in various pieces of fashionable jewelry. It gives you notifications, tracks activity and can keep you connected in the case of an emergency.
